information
- sparkling adaptation or a horrid disaster? most people have come to enjoy the series from introduction of the anime and
wonder how the heck someone can like both heroines. with my explanation of some of the main character differences
from both formats, perhaps I can explain why.
» inuyasha
- the male lead of the series, of which is named after him. the character of inuyasha is chock full of
contradictions. unemotional yet sympathetic, an outcast but still the center of attention, a strong figher
with the constant willingness to better himself. inuyasha has the characteristics that is typical of a rumic
male, which only makes him more lovable in the end.
» kagome
- the girl who came from the future. hiragashi kagome enters the past on her 15th birthday and finds
the hero of the show pinned to a tree. after some events and freeing him, then starts the development of
kagome as she falls into a strange kind of love and has to deal with the responsibities of a double life.
» kikyou
- dead fifty years before the start of the story, the miko kikyou is resurrected into the story by activation
of her own reincarnation's soul - kagome. trapped, constantly however, in the last moments of her life kikyou
somehow manages to rise above the mistaken betrayal to stand in the sidelines and watch her love fall for the
strange girl she was supposed to be reincarnated as.
- perhaps one of the best overrated fictional couples of all time, but I love them nontheless. most fans of
the two love them for their surface relationship and dislike the interference of kikyou. however, I feel as
though aspect of kikyou only adds depth to the romance of inuyasha and kagome.
- one of the most tragic romances of all time. a couple with love lost - torn about by jealousy, betrayl and death - and
then reunited in the same story. however, to add a different aspect to their romance, there is a complexity there
that is not present in other stories of similarites; they learn and grow from their failed romance.
- kagome, present day schoolgirl. kikyou, a miko dead from over five hundred years before. the only common
similarity, it seems, is that kagome just happens to be the reincarnation of the
powerful symbol. of course, when kikyou is resurrected it leads to interesting character development.
- finally, the conclusion of the character kikyou that has been keeping us waiting for over nine years
has taken place. the jewel is almost completed, kohaku is now being protected by sesshomaru as kikyou no
longer has the ability to do it and naraku has finally gotten ahold of the nondead miko. however, kikyou
won't let it end like that - the final moments of kikyou. spoilers
